Homeopathy treats hair loss from the root

Homeopathy treats hair loss from the root

For many of us, there is nothing more disappointing, or embarrassing, than a receding hairline. There are over 40 different types of hair loss. Statistics suggests that 85 per cent of men and 45 per cent of women suffer from some form of hair loss.  The commonest type of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, or male pattern baldness. A progressive disorder, which tends to get worse with age, androgenetic alopecia characteristically presents with a receding hairline and balding areas over the crown.  What triggers the condition is not just one, but a combination of factors. This includes hormonal factors — such as dihydrotestosterone (DHT) — genetics, smoking, body-building supplements, steroid use and stress. Certain medical conditions, like heart disease and prostate enlargement, are also evidenced to trigger androgenetic hair loss.

Utkal (31), a “go-getter” sales professional, presented with hair loss. He said he’d lost 30 per cent of his scalp hair during the last 18 months. His scalp showed balding areas at the sides and on the crown. He said there was a strong family history on either parental side — his close relatives had a clear tendency for baldness before they turned 35. Utkal said that his was a high-pressure, stressful job; it gave him little quality time for himself and family. He also reported that he often took refuge in smoking and alcohol to beat stress. Worse still, he added, that his receding hairline was giving him the blues — depression. He feared this was affecting his performance at work and could also affect his annual appraisals.  Utkal’s symptoms were characteristic of androgenetic alopecia. I prescribed him Lycopodium and asked him to reduce and give up smoking and alcohol, gradually.  Three months later, I saw a noticeable, healthy change. His hair fall had stopped.

Homeopathy does not just treat hair loss on the outside — or, merely its apparent, external symptoms. It treats the “root” of the problem. To achieve this, it analyses the individual’s temperament, nature, life situations and habits. Research and clinical studies also suggest that certain homoeopathic medicines, like Thuja Occidentalis and Sabal Serrulata, act as natural hormonal (DHT) inhibitors and help regulate, control and also reverse hair loss, safely.
