Homeopathy treats acne from the root

Ural (19), presented with painful acne, or pimples — a problem he had suffered since puberty. Ural had pustules all over his face, neck and upper back. This was quite distressing for him. His acne, he reported, used to worsen whenever he ate sweets, during summer and monsoon, or when he perspired profusely after a workout. His mom said that her son used to often breathe through his mouth during sleep. She also said that her “mama’s boy” had a tendency for constipation, aside from picking up fights with fellow students. Based on his temperament and case-analysis, we prescribed him the homeopathic remedy, Sulphur. When Ural came for follow-up, his acne lesions had reduced considerably. After six months of treatment, his embarrassing “pimple spots” no longer troubled him. In addition, his bowel movements were normal.

Acne is as common as the common cold, although its actual cause is not precisely known. Some researchers blame its onset on hormones and genetics. Others suggest that certain conventional medications, aside from cosmetics and bad personal hygiene, can trigger the disorder. Environment too can be a prompt. Those working with chemicals, or exposed to pollutants, oil and grease, have a greater chance of developing acne, because these substances by themselves can clog the skin pores. Besides, the onset of puberty propels the body to produce androgens, or male sex hormones, in both boys and girls. These hormones lead to overstimulation of the sebaceous glands found in the hair follicles, or pores of skin. Once this happens, the extra oil, or sebum, that the sebaceous glands produce, mixes with dead skin cells and bacteria on the skin's surface. This blocks the skin pores, leading to acne. Teenagers are most affected, because of the hormonal dynamics associated with puberty.

Homeopathic treatment is effective and completely non-toxic. Contrast this with conventional acne creams and medications, which have harmful side-effects. Homeopathy does not also suppress the acne distress on the surface temporarily; it clears the “root” or “source” of the problem. In a survey conducted at the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital, UK, 88.3 per cent of patients reported significant progress with their skin problems — and, improved overall health — without side-effects.
