Ease your nosey distress with homeopathy

Ease your nosey distress with homeopathy

Allergic rhinitis is a natural reaction that occurs when our immune system overreacts to substances that one may have inhaled, such as dust. There are two types of allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial allergic rhinitis, which occurs all year-round. While hay fever is triggered by outdoor allergens, perennial allergic rhinitis is triggered by household allergens — dust, mites, pet dander and mould. The disorder can affect people of all age groups, although two-thirds of allergic rhinitis patients develop it before age 30. The condition often spares the old-age group, albeit the male-female ratio for adults remains equal. Among children, boys seem to be more affected than girls.

Niharika (29) is a live wire media professional. Her breakfast is a breeze with fast-food. She watches TV, while eating her quick bite, just before she rushes off to work. She is prone to nasal allergies; her nasal discharge resembles egg whites. She takes anti-histamine pills to keep the problem at bay. When her nose gets stuffed, she pumps a hormonal nasal spray to get relief. When she returns home, she is totally exhausted and feels dull; also, listless. If at all she develops a mild fever, she swallows an anti-cold or flu pill, or aspirin, which provides some relief, while causing her hyperacidity or tummy upset. She is fed up, because she does not get any long-term relief. After taking her case, I prescribed her Nux Vomica on the basis of her overall symptom-picture: a type “A” personality, a pill-popping go-getter. A few weeks later, she came smiling — she had gotten over her allergic distress.

Allergic rhinitis is not so much of a local problem; it is a system-related concern.  The homeopathic treatment of allergic rhinitis is, therefore, best initiated by a professional homeopath. Because, the fact is homeopathic medicines are not used to just treat illnesses, but also treat the individual presenting with the illness. Homeopathic treatment of allergic rhinitis has been well-documented in scientific research.  A study by Morag Taylor et al, published in the British Medical Journal (2000) showed a statistically significant improvement in objectively measured nasal air flow for allergic rhinitis patients treated with homeopathy.
