Rohit, a 27-year-old young guy, he is recently out of college and starting his professional life. This gentleman had already enjoyed a good 8 years of a thick, robust beard, only to find that he is slowly developing new bald patches in his beard on either side of his chin.

You can imagine how terrible this would be if it happened to you!

Believe it or not, approximately 2-3 percent of the population, at some point in their lives, gets bald patches on the scalp, beard, moustache, eyebrow and other parts of the body. The condition has a medical name – Alopecia Areata.

Alopecia areata is one of the most common forms of hair loss, where hair falls out in round patches. Hair can fall out from the scalp or anywhere else from the body. These patches may appear suddenly, or in a relatively short span of time. It affects people of all ages including young children.

Let us find out, what are the causes of alopecia?

Alopecia Areata Causes

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease. Normally the immune system protects the body against infection and disease. In an autoimmune disease, the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks some part of your own body.

In alopecia areata, the immune system attacks the hair follicles.

However, exact alopecia areata causes or reason for this immune response is not known.  Scientists think that a person’s genes may be responsible for the immune activity. For people whose genes put them at risk of alopecia areata, some type of trigger starts the attack on hair follicles. The triggers may be hormonal changes or emotional or physical stress.

In the majority of cases, hair will grow back on their own. However, the time frame is unpredictable. It could take weeks, months, or years. In severe cases, the hair you have lost may not grow back and you end up losing more hair. The disease varies from person to person.

However, the good news is that alopecia treatment in homeopathy gives a long-lasting result, especially during the early stages.

Homeopathic medicines offer excellent relief for such disorders that are triggered by an abnormal immune response of the body. These medications are good for enhancing the immunity, thereby preventing the immune system from attacking the hair follicles.

Homeopathic medicines also promote re-growth of hair, and control the progress and spread of bald spots to other regions. Homeopathy is an excellent solution for hair problems related to the mind, such as stress-related patchy hair loss.

To summarize, although your beard bald spots or patches on the scalp are a reason to feel upset, don’t isolate yourself and feel depressed about it! Visit a homeopath to get a professional opinion.
