Freedom from lesions of Lichen Planus with Homeopathy
Homeopathic Medicine For Lichen Planus
Homeopathy has proven efficacy in the treatment of lichen planus and this has been clearly demonstrated by clinical studies as well as cured cases. Homeopathic medicines target the altered immunity of the body and bring it back to normalcy over a period of time.
Mrs. Kapoor came to our clinic with a history of severe itching over her left lower eyelid. She had noticed a reddish thickened area there for the past eight months, which got progressively larger and itchier till it reached the present stage. She had used the conventional method of treatment without any satisfactory results. Tired of this, she decided to give Homeopathic treatment and homeopathic medicine for lichen planus a try as she has heard a lot about it and thus she consulted us.
A detailed case analysis revealed that she belonged to the type A category, was very anxious and feared any health-related complaints. There was no history of applying anything locally like eye medication, cosmetics or dyes. Examination of the site revealed a violacous, thin plaque with few scales which lead us to the diagnosis of Lichen planus. Biopsy confirmed the same since this was an unusual site of Lichen Planus to appear. Her scalp and oral mucosae were normal. We prescribed her a homeopathic treatment of lichen planus and she never complained of it again.
What is Lichen Planus?
Lichen Planus is an obstinate skin disorder which has baffled not only patients but also practitioners equally. It derives its name from the purplish lichen that grows on trees. Over 1.9 per cent of the total population is affected by Lichen Planus. Females are more frequently affected as compared to their male counterparts.
Lichen Planus is a recurring, chronic, non-infectious, non-contagious skin disease in nature. Its exact cause is not yet fully understood. It is known to occur as allergic reaction to dental fillings as well as medications for hypertension, heart disease and arthritis. Lichen Planus has also been reported as a complication of chronic Hepatitis C infection. Studies have also observed that intense and prolonged stress is often known to initiate the process of Lichen Planus.
If you are suffering from this condition, know that treatment of lichen planus is present in Homeopathy.
Symptoms
The typical rash of Lichen Planus is characterized by purplish or violaceous flat-topped, itchy papules occurring mostly on the wrists, forearms, thighs and in the mouth.
They are very often bilaterally symmetrical in nature. Skin, oral and vaginal Lichen Planus are some of the most common variants. Nails when affected tend to become deformed.
Lichen Planus rarely affects the scalp and when it does, the condition is known as Lichen Plano Pilaris and it may result in permanent scarring alopecia (hairloss in patches).
Lichen Planus is often diagnosed clinically by appearance of white lacy streaks in the affected area (called as Wickham's striae) on application of oil. The rash of Lichen Planus generally heals leaving behind a brownish blackish discoloration which tends to persist for a longer time.
Treatment of Lichen Planus
Modern medicine finds little help for this chronic disease. Conventional treatment makes use of antihistaminics, Dapsone, topical and systemic steroids but long-term usage of these tends to cause side-effects, renal and hepatic being the commonest.
Fortunately, Homeopathy, the fast growing alternative medicine, has a promising treatment for Lichen Planus. Since Homeopathy targets the psycho-somatic nature of this disorder, it cures not only the body but also the mind, thus giving lasting results. In a study conducted by Department of Oral Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Ignatia, a Homeopathic medicine was found to be effective in management of Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) as compared to placebo. Thus it has been clinically proved that Homeopathic medicines are definitely effective in the treatment of Lichen Planus. Additionally, Homeopathy treatment of lichen planus prevents future relapses of the disease and the treatment is free from side-effects.
