I was married at the age of 21. Being brought up in a liberal family and going to a conservative family was a new experience for me. I was highly stressed with all the restriction in life. All the demands from being a good daughter-in-law to a caring wife and bearing a child in the very first year had set in a so many fears in me. I was all the time tensed as I could not get pregnant and my menses had also become irregular, sudden weight gain and a face full of pimples. I then told my husband about my problems. He was the only support I had as talking to my mother-in-law would have created a new drama. He then took me to a gynaecologist and I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome . I was so scared and could not stop crying with the thought of not being able to bear a child. I told this to my best friend and she told me not to worry as she too had suffered from this and homeopathy had helped her to resolve the PCOS problem. My husband and I consulted a homeopathic doctor and I was given homeopathic medicine after a detailed case history with advice on diet and lifestyle changes. The doctor also explained my husband about the problem and he co-operated immensely. After 3 months of treatment I not only lost weight but had conceived and my acne had also disappeared. My happiness knew no bounds when I delivered a baby boy.

Understanding PCOS… Men this is for you…

A female reproductive system is made up of a uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. Ovaries produce female hormones oestrogen and progesterone. It also produces an egg every month which is termed as ovulation. If a female does not get pregnant then this egg would break and would cause a menses or monthly bleeding cycle. When there is an imbalance of hormones, the ovaries may form cyst which would cause irregular periods and inability to get pregnant in a woman. These cysts may be multiple and vary in size. This condition is known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Symptoms

Polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms include irregular periods or monthly bleeding cycles, acne or pimples, increased facial hair, weight gain, hairloss, darkening and thickening of the skin of the folds of the neck, mood swings, anxiety, irritability or depression and fatigue.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome treatment with conventional medicine would be a suppressive approach rather than a curative one. Rupturing the cyst is another method used by conventional surgeons but this method has a great risk and may damage the ovaries permanently.

Homeopathy is the gentlest treatment for polycystic ovarian syndrome. It uses a curative approach rather than a suppressive one to treat PCOS.
