Dr Batra's™ launched its 5th Edition of Dr Batra’s Positive Health Awards 2010, presented by Bajaj Discover. This was announced, recently, at press meets in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru. A cheque of Rs. 2 lakh was donated to each of the following: Happy Home and School for the Blind in Mumbai, People for Animals in New Delhi and Yashodhara Oberoi Foundation in Bengaluru.
After four years of honoring ‘positive health heroes' from all walks of life, Dr Batra's™ Positive Health Clinic Pvt. Ltd. announced the launch of the Fifth Edition of Positive Health Awards, today, at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai.
Positive Health Awards (PHA) are India’s first health honours instituted by Dr Batra's™ to commend people who, through positivity and strength, have fought and recovered from severe and debilitating diseases and disabilities to lead normal lives. Positive Health Awards also honours doctors who have spent a lifetime serving the society.
It is our endeavour to reach out to a larger number of people and to discover many more heroes, who have surmounted odds and health issues and are not in the public eye. In our tryst of discovering Positive Health Heroes, this year we have the firm solidarity and support of one of the pioneers in the Indian automobile industry, Bajaj’s brand Discover.
To mark the launch of this year’s Positive Health Awards at the announcement press conferences, Dr. Mukesh Batra, Founder & CMD, Dr Batra's™, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto Ltd., and the jury members Ms. Anu Aga, Director Thermax Ltd. in Mumbai, Mr. Vivek Oberoi, Bollywood actor, Mr. R Balki, Chairman, Lowe Lintas India in Bengaluru and Ms. Maneka Gandhi, social activist in Delhi, addressed the gathering on the concept and theme of Positive Health Awards and revisited the contributions made by the Awards to the society in the past four years. Dr. Batra’s Foundation donated a cheque of Rs. 2 Lakhs each to People for Animal in Delhi, Happy Home and School for the Blind in Mumbai and Yashodhara Oberoi Foundation in Bengaluru.
The award ceremonies in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai will see the presence of Bollywood Beauty Vidya Balan, the Badshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan and Bollywood stars Aishwarya & Abhishek Bacchhan, respectively, as Chief Guests to lend their support to the cause. The award ceremonies are scheduled as follows:
• Bengaluru: 16th November, 2010 at Chowdia Hall, Chief Guest: Vidya Balan
• Mumbai: 30th November, 2010 at Tata Theatre, NCPA, Chief Guests: Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan
• New Delhi: 16th December, 2010 at Siri Fort, Chief Guest: Shahrukh Khan
Also, Dance Guru Shiamak Davar along with his troupe of specially challenged children will put up a scintillating performance for the audience. The Happy Home and School for the Blind will also render a musical performance.

The jury also officially announced the ‘Call for Nominations’ for this year’s Positive Health Awards. Any person who is a ‘medical marvel’ - with unyielding grit, unflinching determination and immense self-control and has beaten all odds to overcome seemingly hopeless conditions and shown the world what the ‘spirit of survival’ means - and also, any medical practitioner who has spend his or her life serving the society is eligible for a nomination for these awards.
